2005 - 2006 Season

Below is a selection of photographs from our 2005 - 2006 Scrapbook, hopefully giving a few examples of what we get up to. Most of the photos were taken by team members or friends for which we thank them for allowing t be used on tis website - not that we've asked them!

2005 -2006 Season was, for us anyway, a busy year hence the number of photographs. Don't forget - this IS just a selection!.

Annual Dinner - November 2005
Our Annual Dinner is usually the first social event that a new elected Squire recieves the "Staff of Office" from the retiring Squire. It includes a formal meal followed by various club traditions and a "come all ye" of informal singing and dancing or whatever!

Border Day - December 2005 Border Day (apart from lunchtime New Years Day) is the only time we dance border morris, a style from the Welsh borders. We dance around Taunton centre and collect for a local charity.

Annual Easter Monday Tour Each year we start our summer dancing season with tour of Taunton Deane. At our first stop of the season at Vivary Park, Taunton we distribute Simnel Cake to the audience.

Each year there are a number of events we attend on a booking basis. Some are regular, others just one off.

Polperro Weekend
In 2004 we visited Polperro Festival in Cornwall. This year we paid a return visit.

Dancing Up the Sun On the dawn of "the longest day" we usually meet at "The Seven Sisters" on Cothelstone Hill in the Quantock Hills to dance the sun up.

Annual Cycle Tour
It's still a mystery to other morris teams(and sometimes to us!) in the area that we actually choose to run a day tour where we cycle between dance spots.

Weekend with Village Green Morris Men from Canada
At the end of July we hosted a weekend with Village Green Morris Men from Winnipeg, Canada. Sweet Coppin Ladies Clog joined us on the Sunday. We made lots of new friends over the weekend and a great time was had by all.

Sidmouth Festival Sidmouth seafront during festival week is usually our usual last dancing spot of the season, but this year see below......

Bromyard Festival Bromyard is a town in Herefordshire which hosts a Folk Festival in mid-September. Those of us that went had a great time and we look forward to a return visit.
